Alyne Carter Rogers Arrington, born in 1911, was a native and life-long resident of Collins. She was graduated from Collins High School and served three years as Deputy Chancery Clerk of Covington County.
She married James Duncan (Jimmy) Arrington, Sr. in 1931. Mr. Arrington had founded The Covington County News at Collins, a weekly newspaper, earlier that year. In 1937 he purchased another paper, The Collins Commercial, and merged the two into The News-Commercial.
Mrs. Arrington served as assistant editor from 1941 until her husband’s death in 1957, at which time she assumed editorship of that newspaper.
Mrs. Arrington purchased another weekly newspaper, The Mount Olive Tribune, in 1960 and assumed its editorship. She held both positions until her death in 1988 at the age of 77.
