Created in 2025 by the Mississippi Press Foundation, the Mississippi Community News Fund is an initiative to allow local newspapers to quickly and easily begin fundraising and accepting tax-deductible donations.
The Mississippi Press Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to support local newspapers and the communities they serve, launched the CNF to help ensure Mississippi newspapers and digital news outlets can continue fulfilling their critical mission of providing consistent, fact-based information to the public.
The program allows Mississippi publishers to solicit tax-deductible community donations to support coverage of public affairs and current events using individual campaign portals setup by MPF.
All contributions will be managed and distributed by MPF to the publication receiving the donation. Participating news outlets will be required to submit quarterly reports on how funds are being used.
